Giving Leftover Paint a Second Life
Every year, thousands of liters of usable paint are discarded, contributing to landfill waste and environmental pollution. Through RePaintZ, Sustainable World Act Now (SWAN) is proving that what many consider waste can become a valuable resource for both communities and the environment.
RePaintZ is SWAN’s social enterprise initiative dedicated to recovering and reusing rescued paint for commercial and residential painting projects. By extending the life of surplus paint, the initiative helps reduce waste while encouraging more sustainable practices within the construction and design industries. Clients and partners also benefit from free sustainability consultations provided by SWAN’s network of environmentally conscious interior designers and architects, helping them make responsible choices in their spaces.
A key part of the initiative is SWAN’s collaboration with Circle Paints Australia, an organization that shares the same vision of diverting leftover paint from landfill through collection, recycling, and community partnerships. This partnership reinforces SWAN’s commitment to advancing the circular economy by promoting practical solutions that minimize waste and maximize resources.
Beyond painting services, RePaintZ extends its impact through creativity and education. The project hosts weekend art classes that use rescued paint and reclaimed materials to produce mixed-media artwork. These workshops inspire participants to see waste differently—not as something to discard, but as a resource with creative potential. Through this initiative, aspiring artists become advocates for sustainability while learning techniques that promote responsible material use.
Supporting these workshops is ReArTiZ, a community of artists united by a shared mission to champion the “No to Landfill” movement. By transforming discarded materials into meaningful works of art, ReArTiZ demonstrates how creativity can become a powerful tool for environmental awareness and community engagement.
