Our engagement with the Katutubong Dumagat community is rooted in respect, collaboration, and a shared commitment to sustainable development. On December 12, 2020, SWAN, together with SOLAR Hope, ATE Co., and Women of Global Change, conducted a mission visit to the Katutubong Dumagat community in Sitio Balon, Brgy. Calawis, Antipolo. The initiative aimed to establish meaningful partnerships and explore future sustainable solutions focused on energy access, livelihood development, education, and skills training within the community.
The mission recognized the importance of supporting indigenous communities in ways that preserve cultural identity while creating opportunities for long-term growth and resilience. Through ongoing collaboration and community engagement, the initiative seeks to introduce sustainable programs that can improve quality of life while respecting the traditions, values, and heritage of the Dumagat people.
Key areas of focus include access to sustainable energy solutions, livelihood opportunities that encourage self-sufficiency, educational support, and skills development initiatives that empower community members for future opportunities. These efforts are intended to help strengthen the community’s capacity for sustainable development while fostering dignity, inclusion, and economic resilience.
